Cumbernauld Theatre at Lanternhouse
We were approached by Cumbernauld Theatre to provide some young queer artists as consultants for a production of Andy McGregor’s CROCODILE ROCK
“It’s 1997, it’s Millport and Steven McPhail is bored. He’s 17 and it’s now time to work out what to do with the rest of his life. The problem is, there’s only so many options when you find yourself stuck on a Scottish island.
Everything changes when a chance encounter with a glorious drag queen shows Steven a world he never knew existed. A one-man musical featuring original music, Crocodile Rock is a story about finding yourself, understanding others and being true to those you love.”
5 young queer consultants – Newer Artist Theo Seddon, Young Company members Gil Broughton-Stewart, Chelsea Grace and Aude Naudi-Bonnemaison and queer musician BOBBIE - along with Sanctuary Co-Director Drew Taylor-Wilson met with Andy and the artistic team from Cumbernauld. We provided dramaturgical support for the text, audience responses to previous iterations of the production and how the piece could be developed moving forward to help hone the queer content, and its suitability for a younger audience demographic.
